About The Epstein Index

A public accountability project tracking documented connections

Project Origin

The Epstein Index was created in response to the January 2026 DOJ release of over 3 million pages of investigation files related to Jeffrey Epstein and his associates under the Epstein Files Transparency Act (signed November 19, 2025; passed the House 427-1). This unprecedented document release provided new insights into the scope of Epstein's network and the extent to which powerful individuals maintained relationships with him.

April 2026 Update: This index now tracks 24 individuals (expanded from 17) following analysis of the full DOJ release, Senate Finance Committee findings, FCA regulatory notices, and SDNY/USVI court filings. Seven new individuals were added based on documented evidence from the January-March 2026 release cycle: Howard Lutnick, Tom Barrack, Sergey Brin, Steve Tisch, Kathryn Ruemmler, Jamie Dimon, and Marc Rowan. Major corrections were made to existing profiles — notably Thomas Pritzker, Peter Thiel, and Larry Summers, whose post-conviction contact was previously understated.

The project aims to provide a structured, data-driven way to understand:

  • Who had documented connections to Epstein
  • The nature and duration of those connections
  • Whether connections continued after his 2008 conviction
  • What consequences (if any) individuals faced
  • How companies led by these individuals performed in the market

By presenting this information in a clear, searchable format, we hope to contribute to public understanding and accountability.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why track stock performance? Isn't that irrelevant to Epstein's crimes?

Stock performance is one of six dimensions we track. It provides insight into whether association with Epstein had any measurable impact on the companies these individuals led. It's not a judgment of guilt, but an interesting data point in understanding broader patterns.

Does appearing in this index mean someone committed crimes?

No. Inclusion in the Epstein Index means there is publicly documented evidence of a connection to Epstein. Many individuals had legitimate business or social relationships before his crimes were widely known. Appearance here is not an accusation of any wrongdoing.

Why does post-2008 contact matter?

After Epstein's 2008 conviction for procuring a minor for prostitution, his criminal status was public knowledge. Individuals who maintained contact after this date did so with awareness of his convicted sex offender status, which provides additional context for understanding these relationships.

How do you determine the "consequence severity" rating?

Severity is based on documented professional and legal consequences: losing positions, regulatory actions, civil litigation, and criminal charges. See our Methodology page for detailed definitions of each severity level.

Can I request a correction or addition?

Yes. If you have documented evidence that corrections should be made or additional individuals should be included, please contact us. All data must be sourced from verifiable public records.

Is this project affiliated with any news organization or government?

No. The Epstein Index is an independent public accountability project. We are not affiliated with any news organization, government entity, law firm, or other institution.

Why not include everyone in Epstein's contact book?

The contact book contained thousands of names, many with no evidence of any meaningful relationship. We only include individuals where there is additional documented evidence of actual contact or relationship beyond simply appearing in a contact list.

All data is sourced from publicly available records. We make reasonable efforts to ensure accuracy but cannot guarantee the completeness or accuracy of all information. The DOJ itself warned that its production “may include fake or falsely submitted images, documents or videos, as everything that was sent to the FBI by the public was included.” DAG Blanche stated explicitly that the DOJ found nothing in the files to support new prosecutions.
